In preparation to the build up of this historic offshore race, several competitors are currently enjoying spectacular conditions in one of the longest running events in UK sporting history - Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week - which first took place in 1826. Racing in the IRC Big Boat Class from Tuesday to Thursday during Cowes Week is Rambler 100 (USA), chartered by George David. Having recently taken line honours and finishing the Transatlantic Race with an elapsed time of six days, 22 hours, eight minutes and two seconds, from Newport, Rhode Island (USA) to the Lizard (UK), she will compete against fellow Fastnet competitors, the Mills 68, Alegre (GBR) and 2009 Rolex Fastnet Race winners, Niklas Zennström's 72-ft Rán. |
