Starting from The Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes, yachts will race on a course of approx 608 miles via the Fastnet Rock to the finish line at the western end of the breakwater in Plymouth Harbour.

DATE OF START: Sunday 9th August 2009

 

NUMBER OF ENTRIES: Entries will be limited to a maximum of 300.

REGISTRATION OPENS: Monday 5th January 2009
CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES: Thursday 23rd July 2009

Entry Procedure

The allocation of places in the race will operate on a "first come first served" basis and will be subject to completion of the experience and training qualification requirements and the other entry requirements listed below.

Owners of yachts intending to compete in the race must complete all parts of the official Race Entry Form (preferably online at www.rorc.org ) and pay the appropriate race entry fee to register their interest. Submission of an Entry Form and payment of the fee will not guarantee a place in the race; all other entry requirements must be completed to the satisfaction of the Royal Ocean Racing Club Ltd (RORC).

The first 300 registered yachts to supply the information listed below will be allocated places.

When the entry limit of 300 yachts has been reached subsequent entries will be placed on a waiting list. Allocation of places from the waiting list shall be in the discretion of the RORC. Preference will be given to members of the RORC.

In the event of the RORC being unable to allocate a place in the race the race entry fee shall be refunded except for an administration fee of £20.00. See Cancellation Policy Appendix H.

TO BE ALLOCATED A PLACE IN THE RACE A YACHT SHALL SUPPLY*:

  • 1. A proposal to satisfy the experience qualification requirement which has been accepted by the RORC in writing; see Appendix Afor details.
    Seethe 2009 RORC Race Programme.
  • 2. Evidence of their crew having satisfied, or a proposal acceptable to the RORC to satisfy, the training requirements; see Appendix D for details
  • 3. A current rating or class certificate as appropriate. The certificate shall detail STIX & AVS or SSSN as appropriate to the required level; see Appendix B for details.
  • 4. A Hull Construction Certificate in accordance with ISAF Offshore Special Regulation 3.03

* Note: In exceptional circumstances when a yacht has good reason for there to be a delay in submitting any of the above then they should contact the RORC immediately. The RORC shall have the discretion to allocate places subject to a timetable for the supply of information. Failure to supply the required information may result in a yacht forfeiting her allocated place.

IN ADDITION A YACHT WHICH HAS BEEN ALLOCATED A PLACE SHALL SUPPLY THE FOLLOWING NO LATER THAN THURSDAY 23rd JULY 2009:

  • 5. An ISAF Offshore Special Regulations Checklist to Category 2 plus RORC Prescriptions completed to the satisfaction of the RORC.
  • 6. A complete Crew List with Next of Kin details, see Appendix E.
  • 7. A Disclaimer and Media Rights Waiver signed by all of the crew, see Appendix F.
  • 8. The 15 digit HEX ID of the yachts 406 EPIRB.
  • 9. Copies of the yacht's Liferaft servicing/inspection certificates. Please note that copies of liferaft servicing/inspection certificates shall be supplied before a yacht's first offshore race of the season.
  • 10. Evidence of her crew having satisfied the training requirement if a proposal was accepted in 2 above.
